For this Indie Game Date Rick picked out the game Legend of Dungeon by Robot Loves Kitty, a husband and wife game dev team currently working on the reality show/MMO Upsilon Circuit. Legend of Dungeon is basically a roguelike dungeon crawler, but the game play is straight up beat ’em up button mashing, making it perfect for you know who.

All of the levels are procedurally generated, so you’ll never see the same dungeon twice, no matter now many times you play. Similarly, loot is totally random, so you might be an unbeatable god one playthough will all the best gear, and the next you might be hobo with no skills, vulnerable to everything. It all depends on what you manage to pick up.

Likewise potions are totally random, so some potions will revive all your health, and others will put you to sleep. There’s no way to know which is which without drinking them.

All that said, it’s incredibly fun and rather addictive, meaning that I kept playing on my own and managed to get not horrible at the game.

I decided to make this video a little shorter than usual since the gameplay is pretty straightforward. Also, it makes Rick’s skeleton puns funnier.

Do you like roguelikes? What are your faves?
