Nerdy Brooch Round Up

I don’t know if it’s just that I’m getting up there in years, but lately I’ve developed a thing for brooches. You know, those big gaudy things your grandma wears? The most ostentatious of costume jewelry? Big clunky pins that catch on your hair and weigh down your sweaters?

Yeah, those.

I think this has largely with my recent propensity for wearing blazers, since brooches and pins allow me to dress them up and add quirky personality to what can be a pretty square piece of clothing. And obviously most of my brooches are on the nerdy side. I’ve only got a couple that I’ve been rotating on the regular, but I’m desperate to add to my collection. So, for fun, I decided to do a little round up of other nerdy brooches I’ve been coveting lately.

I always wear more brooches in the winter on my hats and coats to dress them up so I’m loving your picks and I may have to get that blogger one! xoxo

I think there is something very wintry about brooches. I guess because they do work best with the heartier fabrics?

To answer your question, I love hat pins! The brooches you have here are sweet though and would add a touch of geeky flair to just about anything!

Ooh, hat pins! Don’t see those much these days. And some of them can be really beautiful and intricate.

I’ve been collecting brooches since I was 15! I’ve been told I’m an old soul, so I guess that makes sense. I love the brooches you picked out, they’re so amazingly awesome!!!

Brooches are also my addiction, I usually tend to dress quirky enough with the clothes themselves but in case there’s a doubt I add a geek/kawaii/travel-keepsake badge 😉 lol about the “weigh down your sweaters” hahaha, so true. I love all your haul, how do you attach the Vader patch? I love patches but I am afraid that I have to settle on a single one for the same jacket.

In the listing for the Vader patch the maker says she can attach it to a brooch for you so you can take it on and off.

They’re fab! At a convention I went to recently I picked up a really cool Game of Thrones one. They had loads of other brooches but I didn’t catch the name of the shop sadly. Etsy is a goldmine for awesome brooches though 😀
