World Post Day 2014

As you may or may not be aware I am a proud member of the International Geek Girl Pen Pal Club (House Organa, wut-wut!) and fastidious lover of snail mail. While I might not be the most diligent pen pal (seriously, I had to create a spreadsheet of all my current pen pals so I could actually keep track of who I’d last sent letters to and when), I absolutely LOVE getting stuff in the mail.

I also make a point of making sure my letters and packages are dressed to impress. I hoard kawaii stationary and always make sure I have lots of stickers and seals on hand to make my penpals smile before they even open a package. So, since today is World Post Day I thought I’d share some great embellishments I’ve found recently.

Postcards

World Post Day Postcards Okay, so these aren’t technically embellishments, but they are nice to have on hand when you just want to send someone a quick note to let them know you’re thinking of them. Also, bragging about amazing vacations you’re taking.

Rubber Stamps

World Post Day Rubber Stamps I like to use rubber stamps to decorate the inside and outside of my letters. I even have a little signature stamp with my name in Hiragana to sign my letters.

Stickers & Tape

World Post Day Stickers and Tape Stickers and tape are both great for decorating your letters and packages and making sure things are extra secure.

Wax Seals

World Post Day Wax Seal Stamps Nothing makes a letter feel more lux than a real wax stamp. Even better when it’s got a geeky edge to it.

<3 I just found out about it too. Sounds like it was started mostly to support the trade union, but in this wired world I think it's nice to remember the benefits of the traditional postal service.

This is a dangerous post for me, since I have a serious stationery fetish. I love the “Don’t Panic” stamp…I feel like I should have that stamped all over my home and my person lately!

Yeah, that’s my biggest issue too. I pretty much have to put it on my calendar to bully myself into it, but then I feel super awesome by the time I get to the post office.

YES! Hitchhiker’s was probably my first book I really fell in love with (I actually read it for the first time in 6th grade). I’m pretty sure it had a very big hand in shaping me and my sense of humour.

World Post day – who would of thought it! I love mail and I too keep a box of hoarded goodies to make letters cute and appealing. The spreadsheet is actually a really good idea, I think currently I have about 10 letters to return *feels slack*

Spreadsheets are a great way to feel more organized without actually having to be that organized. ;p

Can you believe that it’s next to impossible finding post cards in Seoul? I’ve looked it up and I think I know where I can get some, only in this one place…. Who would have thought! ^__^

Weird. I know postcards are pretty popular in Japan, especially for the New Year. They also tend to have lottery numbers on them… go figure.

GOOD GRAVY those wax seals!! So many things I want in this post! 😀

I signed up for IGGPPC, but unfortunately never heard from my assigned pal. And now can’t access their website at all. Ever since they switched hosts, I can’t access their site, from anything (phone, tablet, or main comp). Apparently me and IGGPPC weren’t meant to be!
