My Blog As A Mixtape

Alright, once again I am late to the party, but I’ve been having such a great time grooving along to everyone else’s mixtapes that I finally decided to get off my duff and make my own mixtape representing my blog. This party was started by Joie Fatale, who among other awesome nerdy things does a great series of workout cosplay accompanied by rad workout mixtapes.

My personal musical taste is… eclectic, to say the least. I grew up on oldies with a dad who loves soul and R&B and a mom with a penchant for prog-rock. I sorta missed out on the 80’s when I was a kid thanks to my parents’ musical time warp, but I made up for that later. My teen years were filled with indie rock, grunge, and old school punk, while my college years were full of new wave classics, garage rock and even some classic country and rockabilly.

For my mixtape though, I decided to go out on a limb and ended up creating a playlist that leans heavily on electro and chiptune, which I guess is appropriate since the main subject of this blog is video games. I genuinely LOVE cover tunes, so I made sure to include lots of those, and oddly enough, I’m pretty sure everything here is SFW.

Thanks again to Joie Fatale over at Confession of a Book Pimp for getting this whole thing started, and please keep the mixtapes coming!

It’s true. Electronic music does tend to have a real focusing effect for me too.

Hehe. Yeah, other than a brief flirtation with New Kids on the Block as a tween I’ve been blessed with pretty unconventional musical exposure.
