Since Rick and I decided last week that we were going to stay in our apartment for another year, I decided it was high time we did something about my desk area. It was covered in junk. It was dark. It lacked storage. And most importantly, I hated sitting there.
The first step was moving the printer off of my desk and into living room by Rick’s desk, making my desk feel much less cramped. I might even be able to use the space for crafting, as well as computer stuff, which is pretty exciting.
The next step was taking down the stupid dinky shelf that sat right above my desk and moving my bulletin board into its place. Because of where it used to be situated in the corner, it was hard to use and reference. Now it is right in front of me, so I’ve filled it with happy memories and my style guide for the blog for easier reference.
The next step was putting up a new shelf where the big old black board and bulletin boards used to be. This was critical because it let me get a bunch of stuff off of the desk. I still need to find some nice boxes to help organize stuff, but the extra storage space has already made a huge difference.
All in all, while the changes are relatively small, they’ve already made me much happier. The area just feels more open and spacious and has motivated me to be much more productive.
