DIY 8-Bit Cosplay

Minecraft 8-bit Cosplay

Rick and I are getting set to attend FanExpo in Toronto next month. It’s our first time attending, so we’re still debating whether to join in on the Cosplay fun or not. We’re not really bit cosplayers, so at best we could recycle our Scott and Ramona costumes *ajusts hipster glasses* from before the movie came out. But these amazing DIY 8-bit cosplay costumes have me thinking we could put together something pretty impressive without a major cash investment.

Chozo vs Samus 8-bit CosplayThis epic Chozo vs. Samus cosplay by ChozoBoy was so epic he was even featured in a Nintendo Power interview. The attention to detail and the vibrancy of the colours just blow me away.

Zelda II Link 8-Bit Cosplay Inspired by ChozoBoy, DeviantArtist OrngeJuice created this 2D Link cosplay as a Halloween costume. The simple colour scheme gives it a charming Sweded sort of feel (and yes, I’m aware those are the colours used in the game, they just happen to be really close to the colour of cardboard).

Minecraft 8-bit CosplayImpressive Minecraft Cosplay from Anime North 2011. I love the fact that the dude is riding a pig. I think that’s all I’d do if I played Minecraft. Photo by Grayden Laing

Locke Terra FFVI 8-bit Cosplay And finally, for Rick, there’s Locke and Terra from FFVI. Apparently this pic was taken at Anime Matsuri 2012, but I couldn’t find the names of the cosplayers to credit them.

What do you think? Got any suggestions of what Rick and I should Cosplay?

Hey, this is Dan Cattell/ChozoBoy. Glad you dig my work! I’ve been trying to make one a year since my first one. How did yours come along?

Hey Dan! Thanks for stopping by. As it turns out I have yet to tackle any awesome 8-bit cosplay, but the idea is still there in the back of my mind. Hopefully one day I will find the time and inspiration to do it.
