One of the things I often complained about as an online film critic was the notion of writing in a vacuum. Before the age of ubiquitous comment threads, most of my columns were written without any real opportunity for feedback. There was of course a forum dedicated to my column, but I shied away from participating and it never really had that many posts anyways. I never had any idea that people were reading what I was writing, or that they were enjoying it.
Cut to 2010 and the triumph of web 2.0:
The author of the article that inspired my FemShep piece found my article and promoted it himself (second link in the tweet). He doesn’t seem upset by my take on things, but I’d love the opportunity to discuss it in more detail. Guess it’s my turn to reach out…
